Our History
Kupane Funerals was established in 1985 when Mr David Kupane, Bra Boikie, saw an opportunity to deliver quality and reliable funeral service for the residents of Soweto and the wider City of Johannesburg.
Inspired by the shoddy workmanship he encountered when burying his own infant daughter, Mr Kupane vowed to build a funeral service commited to assisting bereaved families to bury their loved ones with dignity and care.
Without losing his personal touch, and from humble beginnings, Mr Kupane set about building Kupane Funerals into one of the most recognisable brands in Soweto. Kupane Funerals grew be the funeral provider of choice for not only ordinary people but prominent members of society across all sectors.
Today, managed by his son, Molefi, with a staff complement of over 30, Kupane Funerals continues to be the most impactful service provider in the community of Soweto and all over South Africa.
